Will his call of duty break both their hearts?
Losing her father in Desert Storm has left Stephanie James with a bitter soul when it comes to the military. As a college senior juggling a full course load, Steph's only goal is to graduate with honors at the end of the semester. She’s focused, determined, and a firm believer in all work and no play. Then she meets Brandon Walker at a New Year’s Eve costume party. Despite his disguise, Steph finds herself attracted to the camouflaged soldier who curls her toes with a scorching midnight kiss.

Brandon is an engineering major and ROTC student from the hills of Kentucky. Growing up as the son of a major general has given Brandon firsthand knowledge of the struggles military families sometimes face. Now that his father’s memory is fading, Brandon is even more determined to make his dad proud and graduate as an officer in the United States Army. Then he meets Stephanie, and suddenly, his focus is less on his military service and more on the pretty brunette who has stolen his heart. When he becomes aware of Steph’s resentment toward the military, he worries their relationship is doomed.
When faced with the realization that she's fallen in love with a soldier, can Steph’s wounds from the past be healed with love in her present . . . and in her future?

REVIEW
by Shanean

I love a romance that hits close to home.  Being a military brat and wife this story was easy to relate to but in some areas I struggled to share the same feelings as Stephanie.  My heart broke for her and I completely understand her turmoil but loving the military like I do I had to step back and really try to but my feels aside so that I could see it through Stephanie's eyes.  To lose your father and never get that chance to know them is just an unimaginable pain that no child should have to endure.  But Steph did and she Soldiered On.

Steph's and Brandon's story is one that anyone could easily fall in love with.  It's realistic and full of a range of emotions.   I was so proud of Steph for being such a strong person and having a life plan.  She is intelligent, driven and wielding one hell of a witty sense of humor.

"If he asks me to touch his lightsaber, I'm out of here."
"No, but I'll be happy to break it."

Brandon is my kind of guy.  Smart, kind, devoted to his family and built like a shit brick house. Oh there's that uniform too. (Yes we all love a man in uniform)
Brandon has his own goals in life, some that have already been put in to gear.  He has a need or an understanding that he is to follow in his fathers foot steps and join the military.

Although Steph may not know it she has fallen for what she never wanted but always needed. Brandon is a solider.  And yes he will have to leave Steph eventually when he is done with school.  Now the hard part.  Telling the girl he loves that he is the one thing she says she never wants.

"No matter where you are, I will be right here."

"But I'm selfish, Steph.  I want you in my arms, too.  In my bed.  In my life.  Every single day."

This is where I found myself on the edge of my seat and when the secret is finally out and all hell breaks loose you will be there too.  Hang in there because it is going to be one heck of an emotional ride.

"I never imagined my prince would wear camouflage.  I never thought I would love a soldier.  I never thought I could.  Until a soldier loved me."
