BLOG TOUR: Slow and Steady by Kendall Ryan 5 STAR REVIEW

When Greyson Archer tosses a twenty on the stage of a strip club, the last thing he expects to see are the haunted green eyes staring back at him. Finley should be home raising her infant daughter and baking cookies, not tucking singles into her G-string and giving lap dances.

Greyson can't deny that he'd like his own private show, but there's not a chance in hell of that happening. The last time the former Navy SEAL saw her she was dressed in black, holding a folded flag and sobbing that it was all his fault... and he agreed with every single word. He couldn't do anything to help her then, but he can now.

Finley deserves better than this dingy club, and when an obsessed customer crosses the line, Greyson leads the rescue and will do whatever it takes to make amends for their broken past.

He never expected to want to settle down, but with Finley, everything is different. For the first time ever, he can breathe. But Greyson will have to fight for what he wants in order to keep the woman with the green eyes he's dreamed about so often.

Slow & Steady is book 2 in the Alphas Undone series, but can be read as a standalone novel, as it features a new couple.

EXCERPT:
It was nine o’clock on a Saturday night and I was totally out of my fucking element. A bottle of red wine tucked under one arm. A bouquet of wild flowers in the other. A condom tucked into my wallet, just in case. I was in foreign territory, and my entire body knew it – tense shoulders, my heart beating like a drum, and arousal barely contained beneath the surface.
Finley was standing at the doorway, watching me with a confused expression.
She looked gorgeous, makeup free, pink-painted toes, hair mussed and loose. Little cotton pajama shorts and a tank top that hugged her lush breasts.
“Maple’s not here.” She said the words, but she knew as well as I did I wasn’t here for Maple.
“I know that.” My voice was sure and confident.
“Then why are you … oh.” Finley shifted her weight, her eyes dropping from mine as she saw the wine and flowers. She could read it all, plain as day. I knew she could see my intentions, my uncertainty, and underneath it all, my desire. Maybe it was the desire to fix everything I’d broken, or maybe it was just my desire for her as a man desires a woman.
Normally when I felt that primal urge for sex, I headed to West’s bar. I’d pick out a woman for the night. Share a few drinks with her, a few laughs. Later, we’d head back to my place and fuck until dawn. And that was it. I’d be set for a few months.
This … with the courting and the nerves … it was nothing like my standard operating procedure.
I’d never felt so stripped bare and vulnerable. Never put myself out there so completely with a woman before. But then again, Finley was unlike any woman I'd ever met.
And she was still just standing there. “Can I come inside?” I asked, heart in my throat.
She didn't say anything. But she opened the door wider.

With Nolan’s words ringing in my ears, I stepped over the threshold, sure that whatever happened tonight had the power to heal us both.

5 STAR REVIEW by Shanean

I remember the first book I ever picked up by Kendall Ryan, Resisting Her.  I was hooked before I even started reading it just by seeing a small blurb in another book.  Kendall never disappoints me and I always know I will be greatly satisfied not only with her books, but also with the characters in them.

So when I opened up Slow and Steady I wasn't surprised how fast I was hooked.  Finley and Greyson are both strong willed stubborn people.  Both have faced a great loss, have regrets and feel the guilt of not doing what could or should have been done.  Both have a hard time with letting go of the past and both know deep down that the need they have for each other can only be fought off for so long.

Neither of these character are perfect, but both are perfectly flawed.  Finley pushes so hard to keep Greyson out of her life but he is always there when she needs him most.  Although she is determined to make it on her own (love this about her) she finally lets down a few walls and leans on Greyson for help.  This is where the story really picks up.  And just when you think everything is okay it's not.  Kendall Ryan throws in some quick heart pounding moments just to keep you on your toes.

Although this felt like a quick read for me it was perfect for a weekend of relaxing with a hot cup of tea and two amazing characters ready to fall in love.  I would absolutely read it again and recommend anyone looking for a NOT so "Slow and Steady" read to pick this one up and indulge yourself.

REVIEW by Shanean

I devoured this book so quick I had to stop myself and breath.  I love a book I can pick up and instantly fall into.  It was love at first sight for me with these characters.  C.A. Harms couldn’t have written a more perfect combination of main characters and supporting characters.

Kylie is so sweet and it’s sad to think things had to start off too rough for her in life.  Of course I immediately hated Brad but I would have any man that would abandon his family.  I was a little shocked with her job choices but hey a girl’s gotta do what a girls gotta do to live.

Then there’s Evan Mr. White Knight come to save the day.  This man OMG this man must be from heaven because the sweetness that comes from his lips had me in a puddle.  I just swooned all over the place.

"You're amazing. I can't pretend that being just friends won't be one of the hardest things I ever do in my life. I want so much more than that with you, Kylie. I want to be responsible for all your smiles. I want to kiss you and touch you. I want to wake up next to you. I want everything with you. I'll wait for you to want that too. Sweet dreams beautiful...I would love to spend some time with you and Emma later. I've missed you both so very much." ~ Evan Pearson

See isn’t he dreamy.  I think I might faint.  *Sigh*

These two were instantly hot for one another but Kylie does her best to fight it.  She knows her true feelings for Evan but she is doing her best not to lose her heart to another man.  She loved before and got burned and now she has her daughter to think of.  So when her past comes back to wreak havoc on her life she stumbles.  But Evan is their to pick her up and boy does he so one hell of a job. *wink, wink*

The hotness that ignites between these two will have your kindle melting and even when it’s all said and down you will still want more.  C.A. Harms rocked this book with her mad author skills and I can’t wait to get lost in another one of her creations.

Through the haze of sleep, I felt hands on me. Cold and rough. I thought for a fleeting moment that it might have been Kyle. Then, I remembered our break up. It had happened weeks ago, but maybe that part was the dream. My memory was fucked and I couldn’t latch onto a thought long enough to ride it out of the fog. Too many hands. They groped and pulled—rough against my skin and digging into muscle and bone. I tried to retreat, my back pressed into a hard surface beneath me, and my nostrils filled with the smell of musk and damp stale air. I had no idea where I was, or how I’d gotten there. I kicked and gasped, trying to get back to the surface where reality lurked, shimmering in the distance, but just out of reach, like the sun on the surface of the water during a dive. A hand latched onto my hair and held my head back. My eyelids were finally freed from the sticky muck that held me in semi-consciousness, and I opened them to find myself staring up into unfamiliar green eyes. I only held his gaze for a few seconds—if that—but it seemed like it lasted for hours as my brain fought to categorize the details. Its useless attempt to understand what was going on. The man clutching my hair had vivid green eyes, but they may as well have been black given the emotionless void they displayed. His hair was shaggy, brown with a mix of grey, the same colors that stood out in his unkempt stubble. As if he needed any help looking rough. He exhaled and his breath settled over my face, reeking of booze and cigarettes. The smell made me queasy, but I didn’t have time to dwell on that, as another set of hands tugged at my jeans. My gaze traveled around the room, taking in the small crowd. At least half a dozen men surrounded the table where they had me spread out like a holiday feast. All dressed differently, from ragged tank tops to well-fitting dark button-down shirts, but they all projected an air of unchecked danger. Necks marked with tattoos, hands covered in callouses and scars. Scruffy faces accented their sneers and smirks, as they stood above me staring down with eyes starved of humanity and full of lust. Apparently, they didn’t expect me to put up a fight, because aside from the hand tangled in my hair, no one seemed concerned with keeping a tight grip on me. Probably because they outnumbered me, and I assumed they would have no problem beating the crap out of me as I struggled. They’d downright enjoy it. Unfortunately, I didn’t fully consider how that scenario would play out. I bucked and managed to knee the one pulling on my waistband in the face. He grunted, but I can’t imagine I inflicted as much pain as his retaliatory blow to my ribs. I sucked in air and rolled, curling around the injury and gasping for each painful breath as the sickening throb exacerbated my confusion.

 REVIEW by Shanean

When I pick up a book by Skye Callahan I know I’m in  for one hell of a ride.  She of course did not disappoint with this dark erotic romance.  I guess if I was going to be kidnapped and held against my will I would want Kirk/James to be there for me too.

It takes a tremendous amount of talent for an author to write a character you want to hate and should hate but find yourself comforted by this character and by the end you are in love.  What can I say Author Skye Callahan has skills.

Silver/Rose and Kirk/James story completely took me out of my normal comfortable book place and throw me into a world of abuse, kidnapping, rape and slavery.  WOW!!  This one is definitely not for the faint of heart and you should be warned that this book may make you feel slightly or really uncomfortable.  I LOVED IT!!!  I love to be pushed outside of my comfort zone and find something new and erotic to read. I was not only impressed with the originality of the story but also the traumatic events the characters have to live through to survive.

No lie you will be on the edge of your seat until the last page.

Irrevocable is one of those books you will not want to put down even if you try.

I was hooked from the first page and caught up in a world of crime and human trafficking.

Let me just say it. IRREVOCABLE freaking kick ass in my book world. Honestly Skye has given me a whole new look into Dark Erotic Romance and I am loving it.

I cannot say it enough that this book really just blew me away.  The excellent writing, original story and phenomenal characters make it an easy 5 star read.

Well done Skye Callahan.  I am crossing my fingers and hoping for more from these characters or maybe a story for Miles.

AUTHOR BIO
I’ve been coming up with stories for as long as I can remember, and in elementary school I began writing them all down. Ghosts and vampires, have always been my favorite beings to write about. Maybe it was growing up with a grandma who always told me about how she’d always rush home to watch Dark Shadows, and growing up reading and watching anything paranormal that I could find.

My debut, Fractured Legacy (Paranormal Urban Fantasy novella), was released on October 22, 2013, and the sequel Beyond the Divide is currently in progress and expected to release in early 2014.

I am also taking a departure from the paranormal world with a BDSM Romance, Bound and Unbroken, which will also be released in early 2014. I go where my characters lead me, and Eric and Lena decided that I needed a definite break from the paranormal.

When I’m not spending time with the voices in my head, I work in business consulting and hang out with my husband and all of our furry family members.

Random Stuff:

I LOVE Rum, but that’s probably not a secret.

I love sexy cars more than I love rum. My top picks would be a ’65 Mustang, practically any Bugatti Veyron, or an Aston Martin Vanquish.

I once based a character in a story on my husband, and the character died.
Don’t bother trying to figure it out, I never released that book.

I’ve never met some of my closest friends in person–some of them live on the other side of the world.

I never set out for anyone at work to know that I’m a writer, but now they buy my books, so it’s a good deal.

I’m not terribly good at being girly–I don’t wear makeup, only own 4 pairs of shoes, and I’ve never had a manicure.

I learned to handle a gun before I learned long division.

I cuss like a sailor unless I’m around my grandma.

While most of the people in my graduate research classes were buried in books, I was glued to the TV researching the evolving portrayal of “Indianness”.

I’ve seen Disturbed in concert 3 times.

I still have a crush on Jason David Frank (aka Tommy Oliver the Green/White Ranger)

I work with my husband and it’s the 3rd time we’ve worked for the same business.

If I’m not watching Top Gear, I’m probably watching something that was filmed before I was born. Currently, Dick Van Dyke is in my DVD player.

I have a phobia of crickets.

Should I throw you one hell of a fact if you’ve made it this far? I was diagnosed with PTSD two and a half years ago, and my doctor suggested that
I start writing again to help cope with the symptoms.

I stand up and take his hand. He leads us into a remote corner on the dance floor. The DJ has been switching it up between techno and remixed pop, but I don’t mind. It has a good beat, and I can feel my muscles warming up as I start to work my body with the rhythm. I raise my arms and place them around his neck and scoot closer to him. My body is rubbing against his with blatant carnality. I can play this game too, as long as I don’t have to speak. My body is drawn to his, so it’s no effort to let my wanton moves carry me away with the song.
“Logan. The name’s Logan Thatcher. No more disadvantages. We’re on a level playing field, and I must say I’m enjoying the game immensely.”
I turn my back to him and swing my arms back over his head and secure my fingers behind his neck. He hisses between his teeth as my ass bumps his groin. I purposely do it again and nudge his slightly erect penis with the cleft of my ass. A current tingles through my body at the contact.
I close my eyes and sink into an erotic dance. My body slithers over his like a snake up a tree. I can’t stand any distance between us. I want to touch him, feel his hard muscles beneath his velvety skin, and bask in his growing erection as I brazenly press myself against him. His breathing has picked up, and he begins to run his hands up the sides of my thighs and under the hem of my dress. He goes no farther but teases my senses with feather-light touches, and then he runs a hand up the back of my thigh and squeezes my ass…hard. I gasp in surprise, but the move only heightens my desire.
“You’re playing with fire, brave one. I may not be an animal, but I’m still a man, and you are provoking a hunger so strong it’s all I can do to keep from driving myself deep within you,” he growls in my ear. His warm breath on my skin sends an electric jolt down my neck and across my belly. My womb clenches as moisture gathers between my legs. His hand is now massaging my bottom, while his other one climbs up my stomach and skims across my breasts, brushing up against my hard nipples, and pulling a strangled gasp from my lips.
“Logan. What are you doing to me?” I say breathlessly. I’m shocked by my voice. It sounds so husky and leaden with lust. He places both hands on my hips and pulls me into his fully erect cock. He’s thick, hard, and ready for what I would willingly give.
Blunt teeth graze my neck where it meets my shoulder and work their way back up, nibbling on my sensitive flesh. Masculine hands press into my hips, working down my belly to the apex of my thighs. I inhale sharply at the contact and tremble in his arms. A throaty chuckle next to my ear melts any defenses I have left.
His warm breath is doing amazing things to the delicate shell of my ear. Hot and moist, his tongue slowly licks up the skin behind my ear and then slowly works back down. A hard shudder works through me as the burn building between my legs mounts to a frustrating peak. I need release, and I want it now.
His right hand trails a path under my skirt and up around my behind. At the first contact, I nearly jump from his arms, but he has me held securely against his rock-hard body. My back is to him, his arm like a vice around my waist, while the other works its way into my panties.
My eyes are closed to everything around me. The darkness alludes to a false sense of privacy. I can’t hear anything but his breathing. I can’t feel anything but the rocking motion of my hips as my body strains for contact with his. I feel a sharp tug, and my panties fall...

REVIEW by Shanean

When I picked up Kairos I was expecting more paranormal then hot romance.  What I got blew me away.  Mysterious, hot and sexy Logan Thatcher.  Even the name makes me want to just melt.

Now of course I love a hot protective alpha male character but a brazen heroine rocks.  Sulwen not only has this awesome name but a family history full of secrets.  She doesn’t have the most happy of childhoods but she has made the best out of life.  As the story begins to unfold I see her as a determined and adventurous heroine.  Not whiny and all poor me hold now kind of girl.   She can get a little feisty and tends to fly of the handle when new thing are presented before getting all the facts but hey I think most of us girls can relate.

For me the ongoing mystery and the intense attraction between Logan and Sulwen is what made the story so captivating.  I was turning pages and devouring this book to learn more about the evil beings after Sulwen and the need to close a door or barrier between their worlds.  There is a lot left unanswered which is a great lead into a second book, but we begin to see the intensity of the book pick up towards the end.  Yes there's a cliffhanger but hey I LOVE cliffhangers and this one will leave you on the edge of your seat screaming for more.

Intense love, intense situations that could lead to the end of the world and humankind, and intense characters to fall in love with.  It so rocked!!!

Well done K.J. Coakley.  Kairos was the perfect unexpected surprise I needed on my kindle.
