Blog Tour 4 Star Review Interview & Giveaway - To Know Her by Renee Burke

Sara Hudson doesn't remember her own name – or anything else about her life. When Derek Clayton rescues her from a deserted highway, Sara finds she can’t say no to the sexy stranger. Lost from all she knows, Sara becomes the submissive to Derek’s dominance. Although she doesn’t understand why she yields to his demands, she can’t deny the blazing passion for the man who seems to know exactly how to satisfy her needs.

The only thing Derek Clayton has more of than secrets is money. He offers Sara help with one goal in mind – to keep her in the dark until he can work out the events that left her stranded without a memory. Can they give up the constraints of the past to find their happy ending or will his secrets and past love threaten their future?

This 17,000 word novella is intended for mature audiences. It contains a submissive amnesiac seduced by a sexy stranger whose smooth talking skills and sweet kisses leave them burning up the sheets with smoking hot sex.

“And we were together.  We did this together?”  She nodded toward the room before looking back for his answer.
He gave that terse nod again, his eyes boring into hers, waiting for a response.  “Do you remember?”
She closed her eyes, images of the last few days flashed past, but nothing was there before.  Nothing but blackness.  She seemed to remember being in the dark, which didn’t make sense because sconces lit the walls on all sides.   Somehow the place was familiar.  And it felt incredibly lonely.
She shook her head.  “Darkness.”  She felt the first tear fall as she glanced around the room.  Her heart was heavy, and a wave of fear washed over her.  She dropped her eyes and more tears fell.  “I remember darkness.”  The floor, a dark wood, came into focus.
Someone spoke.  “It could be the hood, Derek.”
Sara lifted her face to the wall where several styles of hoods hung on hooks.  A hood.  Her stomach rolled, and her hand shot to her mouth.  She suddenly felt smaller, inconsequential.  She lurched forward, toward the stairs and through the front door.  It was raining now, but that didn’t stop her.  She wanted distance, lots of distance, between her and that room.

Welcome Renee Burke, I am so excited to have you here at Just One More Romance. Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down for an interview with us. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a daughter, mom, and wife.  I have two sons that keep me humble.   Writing is my dream job and teaching is my day job.  I really enjoy both.  Plus I’ve learned that without a bit of a schedule I accomplish nothing.

I just finished reading your awesome book titled To Know Her. Can you describe the book in 30 words or less?
Sara Hudson is stranded on a lonely highway with no memory. When a sexy man comes to her rescue, she can’t say no – no matter what secrets he holds.

Where did you draw your inspiration for this story?
I am a sucker for surprise baby and amnesia stories!  They are both sure to get me to one-click buy a book.  I thought it might be fun to mix the two and see what turned up!  I already had the series idea in planning and the two just came together.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Even as a teenager, I was jealous of romance authors who could create a book that moved me.  I knew that’s what I wanted to do – create something emotional.  I didn’t pursue writing as a profession right away because life happened (marriage, children, and paycheck requirements).  When I realized that my path had led me back to writing as a teacher, my imagination once again began running wild, and I couldn’t stop my pen a second time.

What was the first romance novel you read that made an impression on you?
I read lots of books that I loved growing up, but the one that first pulled me back into reading romance as an adult was a gift from my husband.  It was Christmas of 2004, and he bought me a copy of “Kiss Me While I Sleep,” by Linda Howard.  (If you’ve never read her books, treat yourself.)  I couldn’t put it down and read it in a day.  I love her writing style and especially the mix of romance and adventure.  She’s one classy writer.

What do you do while you write? Do you listen to music, watch TV, eat snacks, etc.?
Strange as it is, I sit in the main room of the house with lots of activity (TV, homework, kids) and write on my laptop.  I have mastered the art of tuning out the world.  This works for me.  I’m honestly not sure I’d know what to do with a silent room and no interruptions.  I do snack, too.

Tell us 3 surprising things about yourself.
1.  I spend more money on books than clothes.
2.  I am not nearly as innocent as I look which works out perfectly when I’ve done something I shouldn’t.
3.  I speak three languages, all with a southern drawl. J

What’s the last movie you watched and loved?
We just watched “One For the Money” last week (based on Janet Evanovich’s character).  Loved it!  I hope they make more of her books into movies.  What a spunky character!

What’s your idea of a perfect date?
Food, humor, easy conversation and a spark, of course.

If you could take a romantic trip, where would it be?
I think my first choice would be New York City in the fall.  The weather is mild and a ride through Central Park would be perfect with my husband.  Maybe some sightseeing, great food, and entertainment.  Even people watching can be fun.  It’s great inspiration for a writer.  Anywhere with my husband can be romantic.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Wow, I want to but … I’ve met a few great looking guys that ruined that warm fuzzy feeling when they opened their mouths and showed their attitudes.   I believe in chemistry at first sight.

Top three things on your bucket list:
1.  To go to Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico.  It would be amazing to watch the water light up at night.
2.  To snow ski even though I know I am seriously uncoordinated.
3.  To try sushi

It’s been a pleasure!  Thanks for having me.

What started off as your typical amnesia story quickly turned into a mystery. With most books I can usually figure out where the book is headed, but To Know Her hit me square in the chest with its surprise twist. I was left in shock and in serious need of a hug. My heart just broke for Sara.
oh my god photo: oh my god. TVD-gifS-the-vampire-diaries-tv-show-17718848-240-169.gif .
I was overwhelmed with the emotions. Sad, confused and angry. I wanted to comfort Sara and question why she would agree to such a situation. I was so angry at Derek for putting Sara through all the emotional torture that I wanted to back over him with my car. That little shit. He may make up for it in the long run but some of the things he said to Sara were just unforgivable.

At least Sara had the support of good friends but I even questioned their support at times.  Sara knew what she was getting into when she made the arrangement with Derek but what she hadn't expected is what came later.  The surprise to this mystery will just floor you.  It will all come out in a rush of remembered memories and leave you clutching at your chest with the pain you will feel for Sara.  (tissues please)

The kink factor in this book was off the charts HOT but the emotional factor was heart- wrenchingly torturous.

This may be a short read but not one you will want to miss and diffidently not my last read for Renee Burke.

Renee Burke has sampled life in Louisiana and the East Coast before finally settling down in the Midwest where she met her husband.  She was destined to be a teacher and loves instilling a love of reading in her students and trying to draw out their inner writers.

Renee has enjoyed romance since she was old enough to buy her own books, but her writing developed slowly as she balanced life with her family and a desire to “do it right.”  Her husband gave her the push she needed with a writing course several years ago, and she was off!  She has finally learned that romance should be felt rather than overanalyzed.  She loves reading and writing romance with a wide range of emotion and humor.  Her close friends all enjoy swapping author and book suggestions and looking for the next hot, sweet love story.
Renee claims her phone e-reader app allows her more reading time than ever before.  “People think I’m busy with important emails and let me read uninterrupted!”  Besides writing, Renee is crazy about spending time with her two handsome sons and amazingly devoted husband.
