Collide (Book 1 of The Oceans Trilogy)
Author: M.A. DeOlmos
Genre: New Adult
Release
Date: December
3, 2013
Synopsis:
My name is Livie Marie Acosta. I am
a firm believer that childhood memories are supposed to be happy, joyous, and
beautiful. I also believe everyone else in life has just that… except for me,
of course.
I came close to having that once
with my own family. I had a loving mother that treated me like her little
princess. My father was, and still is, the biggest support system in my life,
but even his love isn’t enough for me at times. I would have been a proud big
sister at the age of seven, but Antonio Jr. was torn away from us before he was
even born.
I was destined to be alone and
hurt, both emotionally and physically scarred.
The only skeletons that remained of
my once happy family was a father I adored, but who lived hundreds of miles
away, and a mother whom I had spent most of my own life saving from her demons.
Like many people, they are scarred
so deep that when they bleed, it is a reminder that they are still human.
I have a secret. A secret only I
know about. I keep my secret well, and keep it hidden from the peeping eyes of
the world.
At least I tried… that is until two
angels barged into my life, and into my scattered heart. Their presence in my
life spun me on my heels, turning my world yet again upside down, and right
side up all at the same time.
What I find could either save me, or
finally push me over the edge.
Here is my story…
Meet the Author:
My name is Melissa DeOlmos, a
newbie to the world of indie writing. I live in sunny side Palm Bay, Florida
with my two lovely crazies ages five and two, along with my Law Enforcement champ
of a husband. I could say that writing novels has been a passion that I've
always pursued, but I can't. Writing for me has always been my own secret
escape into a land of wonders, opportunities, loves and so much trouble that I
sometimes wonder if I need medication for the stories that pop into my head. I
am now deciding to share my mystical mind and stories with the world, so that
hopefully others may also find that little something extra they've been looking
for. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my books.

Livie and
Lawrence
I heard someone clearing their throat, causing me to snap
my head up from my phone. Coming around the corner was a tall and very, very
hot guy. I must have turned into a deer caught in some kind of bright and sexy
as hell headlights. Since when did Paul
Walker buff up and open an MMA studio.
“Can I help you?”
Realizing my mouth was open, I snapped it shut and
nervously stuffed my phone in to my pocket. “Yes. I was actually wondering if
the owner was hiring for staff yet. I saw an article in the paper highlighting
a new MMA studio opening. Do you know where I can find the owner?”
“You’re looking at him, Sunshine.” I looked him up and
down from head to toe again.
“Serious?” He looked a little offended by my response, but
he looked so young to be in this business. He should be modeling or catching
some hang ten waves as a professional surfer. He had that look about him.
“Ouch, Sunshine. What’s wrong with me being the owner?” He
asked honestly while crossing his thick arms across his chest, and those biceps
were oh so yummy.
“Sorry… I didn’t mean for it to sound so rude. You just
look very young to be in this type of business. I hope I didn’t offend you.”
His smile returned and it instantly calmed me.
“Sunshine, you don’t have to apologize,” he said as he
made his way toward me. He extended his hand out and I took it in mine shaking
it firmly. Dad always said a firm handshake was a sign of respect. His touch
was warm and soothing. Something about him made me feel extremely comfortable.
It wasn’t just that he was sexy and looked like the delicious Paul Walker. His
energy enveloped me and calmed me for some reason. “I’m Lawrence Grant
Hawthorne. Nice to meet you.” Letting go of his hand I smiled back.
“Livie Acosta. Nice to meet you, too.”
“So you say you're looking for a job? Here at my studio?”
He asked this in a rather incredulous way. I ignored the dumb look on his face,
because honestly, he didn’t know I could put him on his ass in a second. I
reached into my shoulder bag and pulled out my portfolio. “Yes. I am interested
in working for you, especially, if you are going to turn this studio into an
MMA training facility. That’s what I read in the paper.”
He took my portfolio and opened it, keeping an eye on me
as he perused it. He flipped it open and skimmed through it. This guy was tall,
and I had to tilt my chin up just to make eye contact. God, I hated being short right now! As quickly as he opened the
folder, he closed it and handed it back.
“Okay, Livie. You seem to have some experience in martial
arts, and if you want to work for me, you wouldn’t mind showing me what you’re
made of, would you?”
Cocky son of a
bitch. I reached over, pulled my shoulder bag
off, and laid it on the counter. I emptied my back pocket of my phone and car
keys. Smiling, I looked up at him. “I thought you’d never ask.”
Let me start by saying “WOW” I cannot even grasp how to tell you how incredible this book is. The first chapter drew me in until I found myself at the end. OH!! And the end!!! M.A. DeOlmos how could you be so cruel to me?? I have to wait till April!!!
I love a good cliffhanger and girl you nailed this one. I kept turning the page back and forth saying “No? Wait? What? No, no, no!!”
For all you reader out there. You know that book that you finish and quickly look up the author to stalk on FB and find out when the next book is coming out to only be teased by pictures and excerpts from book two. (Yes I’m talking about you M.A. DeOlmos) I so stalked your page and then smacked myself in the head for doing it.
Let’s get down to it
Ocean’s Collide broke my heart. It is a story full of deep seeded emotional pain, addiction and need. It is an intense fast paced in your face kick butt read. With three brilliantly thought out characters, Livie, Law and Ocean. Each has their own individual story, but all 3 characters need one another to survive. While Livie is fighting to keep her inner demons within, Law is fighting to keep his out of his and his mother’s life. How they choose to do this will not only catch you off guard but have you asking why. And then there’s Ocean. Ocean has the pain of loss and addiction to deal with but does this while keeping Livie together as much as he can. Livie has a unique relationship with these men. One a friend she cannot do without and one a lover she cannot breath without. For fear of letting herself drown in her own demons, Law and Ocean keep Livie grounded and above water. But for how long......
Full of unexpected turns and conflict. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for all hell to break loose, and when it did it completely floored me.
I cannot wait for Ocean Submerged!!!
