Romance Review Tour - INTERMISSION by Ashley Pullo

INTERMISSION is three novelettes and one bonus short story
from the cast of The Bridge Series.

THE INTERLUDE ~“Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward in the same direction.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

When the snarky Natalie LeGrange meets a handsome stranger on a train to New York City, her immature philosophy on life is suddenly challenged. A casual relationship quickly evolves into a beautiful friendship, but the ultimate sacrifice must be made in order for the other to follow the stars and dream.

THE INTERPRETATION ~ "Evian is naïve backwards." --Reality Bites

Chloe LeGrange lives impulsively in the moment... but what if she receives a glimpse into her future?
Join the dynamic heroine of The Ballad as she struggles with her present, yearns for the simplicity of her past and anticipates the inception of her future.

THE INTERMEZZO ~ "Je ne regrette rien." --Edith Piaf

When Zach Parker returns to NYC on leave from Afghanistan, he only wants two things: Natalie LeGrange and Virgil's barbecue. Continuing the heartwarming story of The Interlude, Zach and Natalie prove that love is selfless and timeless.
Set against the charming backdrop of a Manhattan Christmas, Zach and Natalie will once again capture the essence of love, laughter and the power to dream.

THE MISINTERPRETATION ~ When eighteen-year-old Adam Ford crashes a party in Toronto, a brief encounter with a beautiful girl interrupts his superior perception. Being wrong has never felt so right...

REVIEW
Every time I sit down to read a book I hope for a truly great story.  With the Intermission I got 4 outstanding stories.  Intermission is 4 novelettes combined into one book.  Each is its own separate story set in the past.  Intermission can be read alone, but since I had already read The Ballad (the first book in The Bridge series) it was that much more enjoyable for me to see these wonderful characters again but now even further into their past.

FIRST - I love the titles of these books.  Each has a unique meaning that you will find within the novelettes.

The Interlude – In the Interlude we get a more up close look into the life of Natalie LeGrange and how she meets the one and only HOT as sin Zach “Attack” Parker.  Author Ashley Pullo did not hold back with the instant fireworks between these two.  Their brief interlude may have been short and red hot, but it left an everlasting burn and desire that only the other can quench.  I can only hope that they will get their HEA.  Both these characters and their stories really touched my heart.  It is a very intense love these two share for one another that can only be understood by reading their story.

The Interpretation – This was a fun and uplifting moment in the novelettes.  We get to see Chloe and her sister Natalie take on the night life and party it up like only two sisters could do.  These ladies are so much fun to read about.  Not only do they know how to get into trouble but, they also have each other’s backs.    Chloe and Natalie head out for a night on the town to celebrate Chloe’s 18th birthday.    After visiting a psychic Chloe sets out to interpret every little detail of her foretold future.  By her 25th birthday she finds a different truth.  Living in the moment and seeking her balance in the perfect song.

The Intermezzo – Another glimpse into the stars and dreams of Natalie and Zach.  This one had me in tears.  GOD I so want these two to work but life right now is keeping them apart.  How these two can manage to be apart for so long with such an intense desire to touch the other and hold them in their arms will just rip your heart out.  But have no fear it is not all sad.  There is that wonderful witty and sarcastic banter between these two characters that makes even the saddest goodbye a time to smile.  And then there is the “Zack Attack”.
Oh Ashley you have got to give me more of Zach and please make it a HEA.

The Misinterpretation – Although I am madly in love with Zach I also have a special place in my heart for Adam Ford.  After all he is the ultimate mysterious man with a beautiful breathtaking smile he only shares with one woman, Chloe.
In the Misinterpretation we get to see Adam and Chloe cross paths but don’t officially met.  Pay close attention to how The Interpretation and The Misinterpretation relate and interlink with each other.  This is a very important part in Adam Ford’s life.  His perceptive mistake – a misinterpretation will be the moment in life he will not forget but will set him on the path to finding the one girl that makes him smile.

My final thoughts
When author Ashley Pullo writes you don’t just get a story on paper.  You get a lifetimes worth of events.  She can take you in one direction with her funny, unique wit and attention to detail and then grip you by the heart and have you balling like a baby.  And she can do this ALL IN ONE SENTENCE!!  Phenomenal writing matched with sarcastic witty humor is priceless when found in an author that can portray it on paper.  I truly feel I have found a uniquely talented author in Ashley Pullo.  I cannot wait to see what is next in The Bridge series.

AUTHOR ASHLEY PULLO

When did you become an author?  I have always been a storyteller, but I became an author when I hit “publish” on July 2, 2013.

What is your writing process like?  I’ve written a couple of screenplays and tend to use the same technique for my novels.  For me, it begins with the characters.  I develop them to the point where I know their secrets, their psyche and what clothes are hanging in their closets.  The characters need a place to live outside my head so I create a visual setting based on what I know.  The last step is the dialogue, or script.  Yes, my characters are given a script and and they almost always follow it.  I never force a plot, I'd rather have a theme and a distinctive style.

Where do you draw inspiration?  Mostly from music, sometimes from television characters.  I also people-watch and combine people I know into a singular character.  Oddly, I get a ton of ideas in my sleep or in the shower, maybe because these are the only places my children don’t bother me.

Do you have a favorite author?  Andre Gide.  He’s dead, so he won’t appreciate my shout-out.  Gide’s subject matter is considered vile and risqué, but his style of writing is amazing!  He perfected mise en abyme by giving the reader stories within a story, on top of a story and after a story.  And that dude rocked the ellipse.  As far as contemporary authors, I love John Green.  His characters are impeccably developed and relevant to several generations.  Check out Will Grayson, Will Grayson... genius!

What is the best compliment someone can give you?  That I'm a genius.  Joking.  That I look like Charlize Theron.  Honestly, the best compliment is being appreciated for my style of writing.  That truly makes me proud.

LIKE the following things:  words, vivid colors, dogs, Pottery Barn, the ocean, dichotomy and Christian Bale.

I LOVE the following things:  my children, my husband, my family, red velvet cupcakes, Starbucks, LOST, television in general, Brandi Carlile and my fans, always.

Texas forever, New York for now.
